The Girl Who Silenced The World For 5 Minutes

Severn Suzuki is a child from Vancouver, Canada. She is twelve-years-old and the individual who gave a speech and actually silenced the world through the delegates in the United Nations. She explains the problems arising and that governments are not aware and fixing the problems on earth. She states that her fears of the future are a problem and she addresses the problems to them. She explains how her kids might not have the chance to see some of the wildlife that she has seen, because of the problems people are doing around these animals. Also, she talks about not being able to breathe clean air, or fishing because of pollution. She asks that the governments should take action to prevent the destruction of earth and if they cannot find a solution, then they should not destroy it in the first place. She points out that everyone inside the United Nations, although representatives of their nations are all human. She explains that each of them is brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, etc... They are a one huge family. No separation but unification. To solve some of the problems, she emphasizes the use of teamwork for the United Nations to perform to help stop some of the problems that are irreversible. She talks about a dream of seeing a land full of wildlife, but the dream may not happen because of what humanity is doing to the world, which she pointed out again about her kids. All these statements she covered astonished the people in the United Nations and after that speech, nothing has changed. (259 words)
